Herpes is a common viral infection. It causes oral herpes – cold sores or fever blisters, and genital herpes – genital lesions or sores are usually below the waist. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection oppresses mankind throughout recorded history. The earliest reference dates back to the 5th century BC genital HSV infection was first described in detail in the 18th century. Both oral and genital HSV infection continues to plague people across the world.
Herpes simplex virus requires a moist environment to survive. There is no known animal host; human to human spread is the only known mode of transmission.
There are two herpes simplex viruses:
Herpes Simplex Type 1 (HSV-1)
Herpes Simplex Type 2 (HSV-2)
This virus looks the same under a microscope, and the type can infect the mouth or genitals. Most commonly, however, HSV-1 occurs above the waist, and HSV-2 below.
Immune response to Herpes
Body’s natural defense system called “Immune Response”. Whenever herpes attacks the immune system, the body fights back against this threat. As the battle grew more intense, there is a big loss by both the herpes virus and the immune system. This causes the body becomes less able to defend itself from attacks of other viruses. For those very reasons, herpes patient should try to keep the herpes virus under control at all times.
